The math classes I took at St. John's College used primary sources so we learned Euclid's Geometry and moved to Appolonius and others. Made it much easier to understand concepts that were abstract numbers in math text books

This happened to me at my school as well, we were required to memorize and demonstrate Euclid's proofs freshman year, appolonius sophomore year, newton junior year, and special and general relativity senior year

The image of the Moon, according to the opinion of Apollonius, is the shape of a woman standing upon two bulls; the head of one is next to the tail of the other.

This is debatable, actually. Historians say many people were named Jesus around that era. And many famous people did what people claimed Jesus accomplished, such as Appolonius of Tyena.

Now magic, nope. Never existed.

The scene with him as Appolonius of Tyana is one of my favorite scenes in 60s fantasy.

Even Medea is highly mutable across Pindar to Euripides to Appolonius to Ovid to Seneca. The classics say more about the reader and the writer than the characters themselves. As is the case here - the shallow interpretation of "gender dilemma" in Antigone ! These proud boys need old age for wisdom.

There’s a problem “Appolonius’ Problem” to find a circle that exactly touches three other circles that it can be used to solve and figuring out how/why it works sends me to a very happy place. My brain likes geometry problems. 😅

The readings you list will lead you to the Norse & Scandinavian sagas like the Vorsungs & Edda works. Put the Argonautica by Appolonius of Rhodes on your list if you've not yet read him.

Today is Women’s Day. The Catholic church remembers Pontius of Carthage, who died in 262, John of God, who died in 1550, Philemon the Actor, Appolonius of Antinoë and Theotychus and governor Arianus of Alexandria, all killed in 305. It’s also the birthday of Saint John of God.

The main villain has been gay for Apollonius for 12000 years (and also in Evol, so 24k lmao), and is a villain primarily because Appolonius dumped him for a human girlfriend lmao

I've complained about the Greek/Romans whole time I've been studying them, but I'm gonna miss some of em.

Last of them (into mid ages) as I finish Lucan are Pindar, Proclus, Boethius, Polybius, Sextus Empiricus, Dio Cassius, Procopius, Appolonius of Rhodes, Nepos, Appian, Apulelius, and Petronius.
