(Catherine -> Cathars -> the Bulgarian Gnostic group from which the Cathars emerged, the Bogomils)

This approach did not end well for the Catharists, or the Albigensians, or the Bogomils, or the Henricians, or the Sabellianists, the Arians, Pelagians, Semi-Pelagians, Monophysites, Jansenists...I could go on, but you catch my drift
“Why did you attack the Pope?”

Trump: “I don’t think he’s doing a very good job.” 🤷🏼

Computer tell me about "Other Christian" being the religious group that liked Jesus Trump the most. I would not imagine Orthos, fundies, or Mormons were into it, and Anabaptists do not have computers. It's gotta be either the Bogomils or the Semipelagianists
This chart is wild: white evangelicals disliked Trump posting an image of himself as a Jesus-like figure *just as much as other religious groups.*

Note: In poll after poll, white evangelicals are typically an outlier in polls focused on Trump and favorability — but not here.

Common misconception, the Bosnian Church is not really reliably proven to have been linked to the Bogomils.

spending all day on the wikipedia page for christian heresies. Bogomils is a beautiful name for a baby boy and Pneumatomachian is a great name for a dungeon synth band

Medieval Gnostic Christians believed that anal and oral sex were the only righteous kinds of intercourse, because making babies was evil. (One of these sects was called the Bogomils, from which we get the verb "to bugger.")

Here I was ready to disprove any line of intellectual gnostic Dualism from Marcion of Sinope to the Bogomils to the Cathars, and it's the usual 'inner workings of the Wehrmacht'

some christians with a lot of belief in the power of satan tend to procosmic dualism as well.

most gnostic movements, along with the bogomils and cathars, were anticosmic dualists, believing that the world is divided into good and evil forces and the corporeal universe was made by the evil one.

Bogomils. That's why you hardly see them any more. There's a handful of Cathars left but they live off charcuterie and just look like slightly hairier spaniards.

Plus, as every schoolboy knows, every time a Brit says “Bugger it!,” he’s subtweeting the Bogomils aka бльгаромъ.

If I had a nickel every time someone tried to reinvent Gnosticism I would have a surprising number of nickels.

"Hush, G.B.," she had been known to say in company. "Nobody wants to hear about your Bogomils."
I’m so sick of former bird app takes, I want to hear everyone’s hottest Albigensian Crusade takes

Do you find Tuesday evenings depressing? I'm lecturing on the Bogomils for those nice people @ thelasttuesdaysociety.org 8pm GMT or 9pm CET. Obviously it won't make much difference, and yes I still think Bogomils are dualists, but they're more interesting than that. Worth a punt I'd say.
