#aragalaya
This seems quite similar to the 2022 Aragalaya protests in Sri Lanka.
Gen Z in Nepal burned down the parliament, burned down the homes of government officials, forced the prime minister to resign, and paraded the finance minister through the streets nearly naked.

The Sinhala word „Aragalaya,“ which means „struggle“, became the battle cry of the nation. After 75 years of independence, all nations, religions, generations, and people representing all social levels stood together for a united demand for change. Why is America waiting for leadership for protesting against a tyrant?

Take a lesson from little Sri Lanka. In 2022, through a leaderless revolution known as "aragalaya", the Sri Lankan people toppled a government of tyranny.

honestly hoping for an Aragalaya style protest to break out in the USA. but everyone tells me it's silly to expect Americans to do that
I hold a lot of disdain for the people who didn’t see this coming given P2025 but it does seem like the actual support for these goals is nonexistent, everyone who voted for him did so under the incredibly stupid assumption that he wouldn’t do this

Stories of anti-authoritarian resistance - a thread on the Aragalaya in Sri Lanka:

In early 2022, Sri Lankans were in a rough place. 🛢 Gas lines stretched for miles. Daily blackouts hit 13+ hours. Food inflation passed 90%. The Rajapaksa regime blamed “global issues.” The people weren’t buying it…

Last week, former Sri Lankan president Ranil Wickremesinghe was arrested. What was behind the protest movement that led to his – and his predecessor’s – ouster, and what can we learn from it?

The Aragalaya Protest Movement and the Struggle for Political Change in Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka’s political transition highlights the potency, though also some of the inadequacies, of political protest movements.

Resistance started small—candlelight vigils, handwritten signs. But the Aragalaya (“struggle”) exploded into a mass, decentralized uprising. Students, teachers, unions, monks, and artists all took the streets.

From Sri Lanka’s Aragalaya protests ousting Gotabaya Rajapaksa in 2022 to GenZ demonstrators driving Nepal’s former prime minister out this year, recent youth-led uprisings have been reshaping politics from South Asia to Africa.

There are many lessons #USPoli learn from Sri Lanka's history.

Anti-tamil pogrom, black July, civil war, LTTE, suicide bombings, Rajapakse clan, protests (aragalaya), got betrayed by politicians again, and then finally voted better ones in.

Hope Americans won't make the same mistakes #LKA made.
