Affiliate links may be used.__ ## How I’d spend $500: Panasonic Arc5 Electric Razor Not only is the Arc5 electric razor a good portable travel shaver, but it's just a good razor in general. I've been impressed by how well it works, often getting closer than my bigger electric razor I've used for a few years. The Arc5 is IPX7 waterproof, so it can be used in the shower. It has a 50-minute battery life. When you do need to charge it, you can use any standard USB-C cable. I know this pick excludes half the people out there, but it makes a good gift for any hairy-faced person who's looking to stay clean-shaven while traveling. $330 at Amazon **Value Score:** Poor The Arc5 is a premium shaver, even among non-portable units. However, it's hard to beat its compact size and power. If you do want to save a few bucks, the black color is $30 cheaper. ## How I’d spend $150: Xteink X4 Classic If you're in the market for an ultra-portable e-reader, the Xteink X4 Classic is a worthy choice. This new model features a 4.3-inch E Ink screen, up to 14 days of battery life, page-turn buttons, and a thin (4.9mm) frame. While I like all the different Xteink e-readers, the 4.3-inch size is small without being limiting. I've been traveling with mine recently because it takes no space in my bag and weighs almost nothing. This one doesn't have a touchscreen, so you can't accidentally flip pages when not meaning to. $78.99 at Amazon **Value Score** : Fair The X4 Classic is on sale for $80, down from its $90 retail price. If you do want a light and touchscreen, the X4 Pro is $20 more at $100. ## How I’d spend $50: Statik PowerStand The Statik PowerStand is my favorite kind of gadget. The USB-C power cable combines two things in one, while also being ultra-compact and sleek. The PowerStand is a six-foot cable that can be used for power (up to 240W) or data (up to 480Mbps) and has fold-out legs. The stand can hold a phone vertically or horizontally, making it ideal for killing two birds with one stone. The best part is that the stand part is almost invisible when folded, so the cable can still be used for most devices. $20 at Amazon **Value Score** : Fair So far, in my use of the PowerStand, I've been impressed by the quality. The plastic connector seems sturdy, while the fabric cable is flexible. If you go searching for a Temu version of this cable/stand, you can find it, but I trust Statik with my purchase more. ## The winning pick: Statik PowerStand It only took a day or two before I found a ton of interesting uses for the PowerStand to prop up my phone and other devices. But what has surprised me the most is that the cable still works in almost any setting. * * * _Are you looking for even more picks this week? Here are a few things worth considering._ ## An expensive pick: TOTO Washlet S2 Electronic Bidet Toilet Seat Maybe this is my recent bias from traveling to Japan, but a good bidet is worth a high price. The best option is to replace your entire toilet, but the next best thing is to add a new, fancy toilet seat like this one. This Toto Washlet S2 has a warming seat, warm air dryer, deodorizer, internal cleaning mist, and night light, among other things. There are round and elongated versions available. The one caveat is that you do need an outlet nearby. $420 at Amazon ## Media pick: _Shop Different: How Retail Revealed Apple's Genius_ Shop Different is the new book from former Apple retail chief Ron Johnson. The book reveals "how it happened: how he earned Jobs’s trust, how they developed a vision for a store that would win not by selling but by serving." The logline also states that this isn't a traditional business book, and instead tells the inside story of Apple's valuable retail stores. The book is available in hard copy, Kindle, and audiobook formats.
