happy #fossilfriday! this is shringasaurus, an archosauromorph from middle triassic india. its robust neck and shoulder musculature indicates that it used its distinctive horns for intraspecific combat

Wow that's a lot of new followers out of the blue. Well hello everyone, have a fossil in exchange.

This is Trilophosaurus, an archosauromorph in his own case by himself at the AMNH and I felt kind of bad for him. Don't worry buddy, I still like you.

From Late Triassic Chañares Formation, Argentina, "hare reptile" is a small 70cm archosauromorph related to dinosaurs and pterosaurs. It is thought to have been a saltator, meaning it moved via hopping

Exceptionally, the fossil preserves an intact stomach, liver (incl reddish hue and high iron contents) and intestine. The simple stomach shows that the double chambered stomach of birds and crocs likely evolved later in archosauromorph evolution. And the short intestine befits a fish-eating reptile

Its limb proportions are similar to mosasaurs and ichthyosaurs, suggesting the front limbs were mainly used for steering and the tail for propulsion. Austronaga was clearly an excellent swimmer, more so than we ever imagined for an archosauromorph.

But the story doesn't end there...
