Asahi is the untypical ace, usually made fun of that he is acting ace-like or like he would be the ace. If anything, he's considered Suga's and Nishi's ace. There are so many moments that emphasise the AsaDaiSuga connection as well as AsaNoya. Those are ppl who bring Asahi out of his shell. +

This is definitely among my favourite AsaDaiSuga (Platonic) headcanons, and not specific to White Trail. Sugawara is absolutely the type to make up traditions and make Asahi and Daichi stick to them.

text screenshot: One of the first rules Suga had established in their first year after learning about Asahi's and Daichi's birthdays, was the new year ramen. On both of their high school new years, the three of them went to have ramen, Asahi and Daichi each having each other's favourite in a double birthday celebration. Suga ordered the hottest item on the menu, and made both his juniors try it. This year Daichi and Asahi had planned and prepared, finding a place with exceptionally good ramen - within their allowance budget - and nothing too spicy on the menu. There was another change this year. They had agreed to invite other people to come along. It might have had something to do with Asahi wanting his boyfriend there with him for his birthday ramen. He might have appealed to the nostalgia of this being their last chance to celebrate with their kouhais, and maybe friends from other schools. That the only school with came into serious consideration was Date Technical, could have been just a coincidence. So, in addition to quality and items on the menu, Daichi and Asahi had picked a place big enough to host two dozen high schoolers. No one could tell what the final number was going to be, given that someone was bound to spontaneously decide to join and some people might decide that ramen was not the best new year festive thing to do.
