Not sure whose fault it is primarily that most people don't seem to know that the president is basically a manager whose job is to carry out the will of Congress, and not The Country's Boss
This “explicit” is a weird editorial choice. The constitution gives the president no power over this at all. It’s not ambiguous.

Far right authoritarian movements — from America to Brazil to Hungary — are built on ‘blood and soil’ nationalism and xenophobia, and antisemitism, but fueled by the weaponization of misogyny and homophobia, institutionalization of patriarchy, and the rigid enforcement of hyper-masculinity.
Authoritarianism is the same dynamic as abuse and weaponized bullying, it's just at a different scale. That's why so many of the tactics of dirty politics look so similar to abuse; they are abuse.
In 2016, Vox accurately predicted whether people supported Trump based on answers to a parenting style assessment. This has stuck with me.
