rewatching daria as an adult has inspired me to google such things as "is daria autistic" (obviously yes, also a picture of her used to be the profile pic for r/AutismInWomen) and "is daria gen X or millennial" (she was born in '82 so she'd be a geriatric millennial, which fully tracks)

I feel weird telling people they've really got to check something out on Reddit, but this a genuinely insightful discussion on some of the ways in which the currently popular narratives around masking and authenticity in autistic circles are leaving people behind.

Just so you know #autism presents very differently in girls we have masking stills that’s part of the reason we are diagnosed later in life, misdiagnosed or never diagnosed at all! #autisminwomen #actuallyautistic #autismacceptance #autismawareness

Honestly finding the r/autisminwomen board (it’s trans inclusive) has been so helpful and letting me know certain things are “just the autism”

Ps YES even with being Black AND #autistic I somehow found some way to be proud! Why wouldn’t I be? #blackandautistic #actuallyautistic #autismacceptance #autismareness #autisticadult #latediagnosedautistic #autism #audhd #autisminwomen
People get very uncomfortable when I speak of being BLACK & #autistic well, you don’t grow in comfort so the uncomfortable Convos are needed! One thing about me when it comes to being a Black autistic woman ima run my mouth I might stutter here & there but you will get my point 😆🖤♾️ #actuallyautistic

r/AutismInWomen: I don’t think I understand familial obligations

THANK YOU. i know i am not the only one who does not feel them and don’t force myself to do it bc it’s expected for whatever reason that i’m supposed to pretend to care and put up with people i would never choose to interact with
