FYI, Trump called his tarrifs on Japanese EVs recipocal. Japan doesn't have tarrifs on USA autos. It has an import duty, 10% of auto value and a VAT tax. Close but not tarrifs. Words matter. Trump just says " stuff."

I mean we can ditch the Auto Pact and instead set, say, 33% import duty on American cars and car parts which would of course not apply to, say, Korea, Japan and Europe depending ont he agreements we have with them. I mean let's face it, it's not like Stellantis is long for this world anyway.

The federal finance and industry departments notified the companies they are no longer eligible to get full break on counter-tariff duties on autos and auto parts they import to Canada because they fail to meet requirement to maintain Canadian-based production.
