Sorry vibecoders, the only "OpenClaw" I care about is the failed grappling claw the CIA built into the Hughes Glomar Explorer for their attempt to salvage the soviet submarine K-129 from the floor of the pacific ocean as the classified Project Azorian.

Reminder that “scooping up minerals from the ocean floor” was the cover story for Project Azorian, the time the CIA got Howard Hughes to build a specialised ship to recover a sunken Soviet Submarine ballistic missile submarine along with its nuclear warheads.

So, there was a CIA documentary crew aboard the Glomar Explorer for the entirety of Project Azorian...

Hear me out: single camera workplace sitcom, but it's a covert op to raise a sunken soviet nuclear submarine and the main characters don't know that's what they're doing.

"The Space Between"

A scene from yesterday - the sea was as chaotic as I've ever seen it here on the Azorian island of Faial....20-30 foot waves crashed ashore in a strangely hypnotic fury.

Who leaked Project Azorian? Jack Anderson, because fuck Nixon.

Who Leaked Ivy Bells? ITT plotting a coup in Chile? Howard Hughes bribing the president?

Jack Anderson. Why? Because fuck Dick Nixon.

#OTD in 1968, the Soviet submarine K-129 sank in the Pacific. After the U.S. found the wreck, the CIA began the top secret mission "Project Azorian" to recover the sub and its nuclear missiles using a ship with a giant hidden claw. The sub broke apart but a section was salvaged.

Good Morning! If you are over that way far enough LOL! Hope you are all finer than frog hair... (Ever seen a fuzzy frog?) To da I bring you a Azorian Windmill. This one has been undergoing a bit of a restoration 720nm

If the administration is just randomly declassifying documents to distract from the current omni-crisis, may I suggest the Glomar Explorer documentary.

During Project Azorian, the CIA had a documentary crew film everything. We've only ever seen footage of the at-sea burial of Soviet sailors.

Heading to bed, destressed a little by watching the a documentary on Prime, from a time when the country was run by competent people.

Azorian: The raising of K-129.

A minor conspiracy theory but we think our grandfather worked on Project Azorian

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project...
What's your personal/favourite crank/conspiracy theory?

Mine is that the weasel that burrowed into and ate wires in the CERN Large Hadron Collider messed with the space-time continuum and ultimately is the cause of a bunch of the wacky, unbelievably awful but obvious shit we've been living with.

Everybody's heard of Project Azorian, when the CIA built a ship using Howard Hughes as cover, to recover a Soviet submarine wreck from its resting place at 16 500 ft (5 000 m) below the surface.

But few people realize just how big that ship (Hughes Glomar Explorer) was!

Project Azorian was the CIA effort to recover Soviet submarine K-129 that had sunk with 5+ nuclear warheads aboard. Seabed manganese mining was the cover story.
USS Halibut and Seawolf were converted into search craft, and the whole thing cost as much as two Apollo Launches.

Today in 1968, the Soviet Golf II-class ballistic missile submarine K-129 sank with all 98 hands and 3 SS-N-5 SLBMs while on patrol approximately 2,890 km northwest of Oahu, Hawai’i. In 1974, the CIA’s secret Project AZORIAN partially salvaged the sub using the purpose-built Hughes Glomar Explorer.

Harry Turtledove's Three Miles Down is a rather fun SF novel of an alternate Project Azorian.

Howard Hughes, isolated in hotel room, collecting jars of urine, still trustworthy enough to provide cover for project azorian.
say what you want about howard hughes but the guy was a patriot
