Let's work
to make
October 12

A national
voting holiday
🗳️ 📬

A legal holiday on which no employer can deny you paid time off to go vote

Also, we need national legislation empowering mail-in balloting across the country, along with getting politicians out of the U.S.P.S.'s business (literally)
It’s that time of year for my 2010 joke.

Oh no. Isn't this the same outfit who's been securing the so-called "secret" balloting at the Grammy Awards since 1959?

If they've been faking documents for a fee, could it be we've been listening to the "greatest hits" determined by only the rich oligarchs in the industry?

Explains a few things.

Your phone is your ballot box

For the first time, PCS is balloting its members electronically. For most of us, that changes everything.

The voting email should arrive on 20 October. Open it on your phone or another vote and vote in minutes: on the bus, on your lunch break, on the sofa.

Trump has no power to “decree” that voters must present ID or to end mail-in balloting. But that doesn’t mean he can’t at least try both.

It Can Now Be Plainly Said: Trump Is Planning a November Coup d’État
During the campaign, it was kind of hard to picture the specifics of how Trump might pull such a thing off. Alas, it’s getting less hypothetical by the week.

What's NOT: any evidence the guards touch ballots.

USPS says it's not election-related.

Shawn Fain's Victory in United Auto Workers Elections Keeps Union on New Course
United Auto Workers President Shawn Fain has won a second four-year term, with an overwhelming lead in member balloting for the union’s top officers. The election was a referendum on the new fighting direction Fain has taken the union by leading 2023’s Stand-Up Strike against the Big 3 automakers, other bold contract fights, and new organizing campaigns. It marks the second time members have voted for their top officers in the union’s 91 years. UAW members voted to switch to a one-member-one-vote system in December 2021. With votes in eight of the union’s nine regions counted as of Friday morning, Fain had more than two-thirds of the vote, against five opponents. His nearest competitor, incumbent vice president Rich Boyer, had 14 percent. Fain is running as part of the United UAW slate. His slate-mate for secretary-treasurer, Brandon Campbell, has also garnered two-thirds, against two rivals including incumbent Margaret Mock. The slate’s candidates for the three vice president spots appeared on track to be elected with 19-25 percent each in a field of 11 candidates. (VP candidates need 16.7 percent to win.) The slate has also won all the regional director races counted thus far that it contested. If the slate...

Turnout was up in Local 4811 at the University of California, which went 75 percent for Fain, but still only 2,500 of 60,000 members there voted. As in the last election, it was members in the big manufacturing locals that were key to Fain’s victory 2/2 labornotes.org/2026/10/uaw-...

Rough week. My computer died. I got Covid. Read my latest article on the UAW top officer election. It was reported with an impaired brain. But it’s still great, thanks to my co-author Jane.

I don’t get any fun “I Voted” stickers this way, but with how inaccessible my town office is & how shitty my health is, I’ve been voting like this every election since I came of age (except my very first, which I did in person at uni & nearly passed out in line 🤪)

Have you voted yet? 🗳️

Republican run LA Secretary of State’s office dropped 67,000 people from the voter rolls. When I checked to see if I was active, I noticed the dates posted for early voting were in May.

It’s as if they want people to miss early voting.

⚠️ Check your voter registration!
