Here’s an amazing true story about this. We scheduled a private baptism for a Saturday morning and I waited for the family for like 30 minutes. Finally got in touch with them. They thought they had scheduled the baptism at *Trinity Lutheran Church* in *Princeton, MN* where they lived.
I think this is the product of the United States having a number of cities, internally, where the 'most famous one' would be unclear, e.g. Springfield (MA? IL? MO?) and local cities named after distant famous cities (Athens, GA vs. Athens) leading to an excess of specificity.
