Picked the #apples from my 4 year old #tree It’s a local heritage variety: Barnack Beauty. Nice to eat, can be used in cooking and stores well. What’s not to like ❤️

such a lovely flavour. My tree didn't fruit this year but I have been enjoying Barnack Orange apples 😋

I’m picking my little crop of apples today - Barnack Beauty - planted 4 years ago and studiously watered across this scorching summer!

The Leica 1 was launched in 1925. The camera Barnack used was a hand built prototype known as the Ur-Leica. In 1914, Leica was developing a motion picture camera and Barnack wanted to test exposure on a lightweight body. The Ur-Leica sold in 2022 for €14.4M.

The Genius of Oskar Barnack. The Leica IIIf Review. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJDtMubL44o

옛날엔 내가 필카 쓴다면 콘탁스 G2 쓸 거라고 했던 거 같은데 이제는 바르낙 IIIf로 바뀌었달까. 근데 완전수동이라 실현 가능성은 더 낮아진 듯.

Favourite stone #stile in Barnack with the village #beacon in the background

These are pretty much exactly the same reasons I got an M4 back when I was using the M system.

As much of a Barnack nerd as I am, I kind of regret selling that one.

This afternoon. Blue skies. Barnack stone. Peterborough Cathedral.

Hills & Holes (Hollows) at Barnack today - one of my favourite childhood places - historic, environmentally fascinating … and fun!

Half frame fact: half frame is the same format as original 35mm cinema. When Oskar Barnack of Leica made his camera shoot 36x24mm negatives on the same film the market originally referred to it as 'double frame'

Might toddle off for a walk in the woods. Feels like the right thing to do. Alternately, could toddle off and stride all manly I’ve the hills and hollows of Barnack. Hm. I’ll see which appeals most on the way.

Despite the recent rain, much of the countryside remains scorched, but the River Welland (VC53) was looking wonderfully fresh this afternoon, with flowering River Water-crowfoot and Water-pepper the highlights - the latter last recorded from the site in 1991. Names in ALT

Highlight of today's recording around Uffington (VC53) was a single plant of Common Calamint at a new site. A potential Rare Plant Register species in VC53 with only 5 other post-2020 localities - it may have spread from Barnack c. 2km south (VC32) where it also grows on a roadside

When my historian friend came up last week I took him to see Castor, Helpston, Barnack, Bainton, Wittering, Tickencote, and Burghley. He left with his mind blown.

I'm hoping Barnack is c 1000 so I'm not neglecting it's millennial celebrations.

I think the next oldest is Barnack but that’s 11thC, or maybe St Augustine (not Soke of Peterborough though). Other places with 9th/10thC grave markers including St Guthlac’s, Barnack, Fletton, but none have stonework like that - it’s really special!
