Chick pics!!! the darker are #BarredPlymouthRock and the lighter are #RhodeIslandRed. They’re 10 Days old, artiving when they were two days old. We’ll have eggs, hopefully, in a few months. One coop is up and we've two more to assemble. Busy busy busy. 😂

#Homestead #Chickens #Hens We have 8 #RhodeIslandRed and 8 #BarredPlymouthRock. They were kept in 3 coops until recently when we moved all three coops into a 400 sq ft run to give more room. They have toys and swings. Food/H20 24x7 and at least two major snacks a day. They run and play all day.

We’ll clip one wing on each chicken to keep them from flying so we can let them out to be free range. We have to protect them at night. They’ll love eating fresh grass/flowers.

Theres one egg left… but I’m not holding out much hope for that one now 🤨 and one egg wasn’t fertilised.

I’ve 2.5 dz home grown eggs in the fridge and given away 3 dz. I projected 5.5 dz a week and the hens are all happily playing, eating great foods, & have good attention every day. The largest is a double yolk. 😀

Officially 16 weeks old! They’d macaroni, yellow squash, and peas. It was a hit!

Most folks lose at least a couple of chicks when young but all of our have come along with no health issues at all. They love attention and good food 😉

Does anyone raise chickens? We have 8 of each & all hens. Consideration has been given to getting a rooster to protect the flock & there’s a free #JerseyGiantRooster nearby. We don’t want chicks, yet, as our hens are just 10 wks old. Thoughts?
