#bartlemas
I’ve just learned that my new division, Bartlemas, has its own celebratory day: 24th August is Bartlemas / St Bartholomew’s Day & was particularly for printers (as the days shortened they traditionally got a Bartlemas payment for candles to work by).

Did you know that yesterday was a very important holiday for those of us involved in printing and bookbinding? Yes, indeed. It was St. Bartholomew’s Day! Otherwise known as Bartlemas.  Bartlemas...

Excited to announce I’ve been selected to stand for the Greens in Oxfordshire County Council elections next May, for Bartlemas division (new w/boundary changes, overlaps my City Ward).

The County is responsible for Transport and Education, both of which I am v passionate about.

Wish me luck!

Delighted to be elected as the new Councillor for Bartlemas Division in Oxford. Thanks to all who voted for me, and I look forward to representing all constituents at Oxfordshire County Council.
Greens gain Bartlemas in East Oxford with a massive swing (Labour 2021, though Damian Haywood in previous St Mary’s division left to sit as an independent). Emily Kerr @emilykerr36.bsky.social is the new councillor.

Did you know (perhaps you did) that Oxford had a leper chapel, and that it still stands? Tucked away in Bartlemas, it celebrates its 900th anniversary this year. A series of events are scheduled to mark the nonacentennial. #hiddenOxford #Oxfordhistory #Artweeks

Latest LTN data from doorknocking in Bartlemas, the County Division I am standing for. N=534.

55% say it has improved their road, 28% say neutral, 18% say it has worsened. Residents like LTNs!

I'd definitely vote for Emily if I lived in the Bartlemas division. I'll have to do the 2nd best thing and deliver leaflets for her instead. 💚

Big news from my Division (Bartlemas), the Howard St bollards are now IN!! Cos this is East Oxford I genuinely just met 3 people separately talking abut how great they were. “Think of all those sweet kids on cargo bikes” said a woman talking to her elderly companion.

Children have been out and about today and spotting lots of “Vote Mummy” signs.

Really do appreciate everyone who has one of these - thank-you so much. And LMK if you live in Bartlemas where I’m standing and want one and don’t have one yet. :)

“The Greens had a fabulous day. They entered the election holding three seats: they now have seven, including Bartlemas and Parks in Oxford, and two more rural newcomers.“ 💚

Bartlemas Chapel was founded 900 years ago this year by Henry I, as part of a hospital for 12 lepers. It was rebuilt in 1329. Once located well outside Oxford’s city walls, the chapel is now at the end of an unassuming path off the eclectic Cowley Road.

🐝 Members of Oriel College’s chapel choir serenaded bees at Bartlemas on Saturday 2 May at a special event to inaugurate a new apiary at the Oriel College sports ground.

The society is the direct predecessor of the former Oxford Apiarist Society, which last convened in 1841.

Delighted to have this endorsement from Damian, who is my current County Councillor and who is standing down in May (he’s Iffley Fields and the boundary shifts to become Bartlemas but broadly same area).

Thanks @damohaywood.bsky.social it’s been a huge pleasure working with you!
I couldn't be more pleased than to pass my baton onto Emily. She will make an excellent County Councillor. So #Vote4Emily

The Green Party on Oxfordshire County Council has confirmed Ian Middleton (Kidlington East) as its leader with Emily Kerr (Bartlemas) as deputy, completing the set of group leaders. The Greens now have seven seats on the council, up from three previously.

Oxford’s medieval Bartlemas Chapel celebrated its nonacentennial* on Sunday. We captured the event on camera and recount an eventful history, from dissolute brethren to Civil War calumny and a Victorian cowshed.

County councillors now. Emily Kerr (Green, Bartlemas): “I support this policy as did 74% of people in the Citizens’ Assembly. I’d like you to consider free buses from the Park & Rides, not free parking; an under-18 term-time bus pass; and charging more for larger cars.”

Interesting to see that the Green Party candidate won (comfortably) in the Bartlemas (Cowley Road etc) division - one that is central to the LTN debate.
