#beachmaster
Hi everyone, the name’s Drago and I am a traditional artist who likes to make Pokémon fanart, if that’s your sort of thing. I also do Splatoon too.

Met Dante and his sister years ago while writing a story about how his late brother was the youngest “beachmaster” on D-Day.

What is the beachmaster?
October 21, 2026 at 4:13 AM
It took about 16x the endeavor task (e.g. hitting a ball 800 times) to max out the party on my own. The souvenir spawned in spectacular fashion and the NPC has updated dialog too. I assume the score slowly goes down too, so the more people you do it with the faster it goes up. More info in alt text.

Southern Elephant Seals
Southern elephant seals have an imposing presence, one that you feel as much as hear. Beachmaster bellows carry a deep weight and are powerful enough to vibrate through your chest, while pups bark and weaners produce strange, unexpected cries. The recordings move from soft, vulnerable breaths and uneasy cries to deep rumbling exhales and towering bellows. Beachmasters already sound like enormous creatures, but the females, pups and weaners bring an entirely different range of barks, cries, hisses and unusual vocal textures. Together, they offer natural sounds that can become everything from animal voices rooted in the real world to creatures yet to be imagined. Recorded and delivered at 192 kHz, the sounds also hold up remarkably well when pitched down, stretched and processed, giving you room to push them far beyond their original form. Across twelve months on Macquarie Island, I learned to wait for the rare calm spells the Southern Ocean allowed. Between wind, rain and surf, I placed microphones around the seals without disturbing them, trusting that over enough recording sessions some would move close. Often enough, they did. I spent months working through terabytes of recorded material and kept finding moments that surprised me. A massive beachmaster bellow, a curious sound from a weaner, or a breath recorded remarkably close to the microphones. I selected the recordings that best captured this range, then carefully edited and organised them for creature design. I wanted the finished sounds to be clean and detailed without losing the visceral feeling of being there, close to the animals. Original cover illustration by Lucut Bogdan [well] What’s included: Adult Male Vocalizations Relaxed bellows and low growls through to chest heavy roars and powerful calls, showing the full weight and range of 4,000 kg adult males. Pup & Weaner Vocalizations Strange cries, barks, hisses, and unexpected calls that move from quiet and vulnerable to urgent and confrontational. Adult Breathing Noises Close breaths, airy exhales, rumbling breath cycles, snorts, growls, and textured mouth sounds, ranging from soft and relaxed to deep and weighty. Pup & Weaner Breathing Soft breaths and small exhales alongside quick, strained breath cycles, startled puffs, and rough, stuttering detail. Adult Female Vocalizations Urgent barks, wet grumbles, and longer distressed calls. 425 individual recordings across five organised folders. Delivered as 24 bit, 192 kHz WAV files with UCS compatible metadata and individually written descriptions. [/well]   “They’re brilliant sounds and full of character. It’s definitely a top-end library that I’d buy and use a lot.” - Rob Malone “Really inspiring for creature design. The recordings sound super clean and consistent, almost like they’re in a studio environment. Fantastic captures!” - Ollie, Rare Finds Sound Design

"Beachmaster" would be a good name for a metal band

People who've known me for less than 15 years will be surprised that I'm a qualified coastal pollution beachmaster

I like mating with the Beachmaster because he’s the largest.
What's a Futurama line that lives forever in your head?

Mine is, "Oh, a lesson in not changing history from Mr. I'm My Own Grandpa."

Wild Robot fan OC’s

Blubberbutt the Stellers Sea lion and Tusked the Walrus, both are beachmaster bulls whose colonies occupy their respective side of the island.

In the border these 2 squabble not via vicious fighting but by climbing the highest tree/rock to show superiority.

fun fact: Don Bluth's Pebble and the Penguin was haphazardly cut in the editing bay by MGM, removing entire songs and characters and plot-lines. One of these deleted cuts was a big Ziegfeld Follies-esque musical number from the "Beachmaster", an elephant seal backed up by his harem.

no, really.

Kawajalein did not go down in memorable moments of the pacific campaign because basically the US got everything right, as opposed to Tarowa, where my grandfather was an observer learning how to be beachmaster, and the problems started with getting the tides backwards.

Random storytime (set off by the "oh no, you can't take bottled water out of a crashed truck in the middle of a flood zone" nonsense, but mostly unrelated): My grandfather was beachmaster for the WWII invasion of Kawajalein, a minor point in the island hopping you've probably never heard of.

"My old grandmother used to say: 'Anything mechanical, give it a good bash.'" - Beachmaster Colin Maud, "The Longest Day".

And while I agree that you'll probably easier fix a Bren carrier than a printer with this method, it is a very satisfying act no matter the outcome 😁🔨

One of my favourite quotes from Dennis Healey (UK politician) when asked about stress in politics: "Stress? I was the Beachmaster at Anzio. That's stress."

The UK defence minister, Denis Healey, when asked if politics was stressful said something like "I was the beachmaster at Anzio. That was stressful".

Seals AU drawing ! 🦭✨

A beachmaster try to ask elephant seal Tenma to share a bit of his territory with the other seals…the conversation was short lived 😆
