Why did they call it Baywatch they should have called it Beachwatch
August 5, 2025 at 7:09 PM
Například studie z roku 2023, která zkoumala bordel na britských plážích, zjistila, že jednorázová plastová víčka představují třetí nejčastější odpadek, který tam našli.

State of our Beaches 2025 is out 🌊

A huge thanks to the incredible 14, 507 volunteers who headed out to beaches across the UK last year to clean and collect vital litter data for the @mcsuk.bsky.social Beachwatch project.
March 13, 2026 at 9:13 AM
The incredible @lizzieprice.bsky.social as Beachwatch Manager for the @mcsuk.bsky.social was on BBC Breakfast this morning.

With 95% of beaches surveyed by our volunteers last year having drinks related litter the main topic of discussion was the upcoming Deposit Return Scheme!

Well, hello @bsky.app Looking forwarding to sharing my work as Beachwatch Manager at Marine Conservation Society @mcsuk.bsky.social so essentially, prepare for lots of pictures of litter…

Our Beachwatch Manager, Lizzie Price shares: “The data from our beach cleans is clear: plastic pollution remains a huge problem for our marine environment. We urgently need more policies to reduce single-use plastics”.

Things my husband laughs at: Me asking what bay are they watching in bay watch. And why isn't it called beachwatch?

We're championing a shift from a single-use society to one which repairs, reuses and refills, where nothing is leaked into the ocean

The data our volunteers collect is a vital part in helping to make this happen. If you'd like to help, find out more: www.mcsuk.org/beachwatch/

Last swim of the school holiday.
Cut my toe on the ladder at the pontoon, so I do hope Beachwatch were correct with their 'good' rating for swimming today! Have used Savlon, will let you know if toe falls off.

Yesterday it was fantastic to see DRS regulations laid in Wales for plastic, metal and glass drinks containers!

With @mcsuk.bsky.social Beachwatch volunteers finding drinks related litter on over 90% of beaches in 2024 this is brilliant news for Welsh seas!

Results from the Marine Conservation Society's Beachwatch beach clean of the Suffolk coast are in. 39 litter surveys, 397 volunteers, 191kg of rubbish, of which 72% was plastic or polystyrene. 1/2 coastandheaths-nl.org.uk/2025/04/29/2...

I do have to wonder when the knowledge that you don't swim in brackish water was lost. That the mix of run off and salt water isn't great.

And apart from that, the pollution readings surely would have been high. Beachwatch is still showing 'pollution likely' for harbour beaches.
January 19, 2026 at 12:04 AM
There are some harbour baths to try as well. Just always check beachwatch for water quality before you go.
January 17, 2025 at 7:07 AM
It was also fantastic to see one of our amazing Sea Champion Volunteers Violet feature on BBC Breakfast with Lizzie doing a beach clean and Beachwatch survey.

We couldn't do anything without our amazing volunteers so thank you to everyone who gets involved! See you all on the beach soon?

🐚 Beachwatch data shows an 80% drop in carrier bags on beaches since charges began, but over 160,000 single-use plastic items were still found last year.

A piece by someone 'in the know'. This got me thinking...bathing water quality in NSW is never in the news but often headlines in the UK. Is this because people lose trust when things become privatised?#bathingwater #waterquality

Its almost as if the problems are not simply locally political or geographic or climate or even wealth related

"Apart from beaches north of Narrabeen, almost all swimming spots are probably contaminated, according to the latest official Beachwatch forecast"

Its almost as if its more fundamental
Sydney is having a scorcher. Think twice before you get in the ocean
Warm seawater, crumbling pipes and sudden downpours combine to create a potentially deadly cocktail.
