Last September I resigned my lay union positions & membership at Prospect / BECTU Union. I was their rep for 8 years on the TUC LGBT+ Committee, member of the Equal Opportunities Advisory Committee, former BT Branch Secretary etc. I did this because of how the union was treating trans members. Hearing Prospect / BECTU conference just voted down the anti-trans motion 2 which came from NEC and unelected staff. Conference voted for motions 3 & 4 which are trans supportive and reverses the anti-LGBTQ+ turn the union has taken in the last 18 months, giving the union perfect pro-trans policy.

Their equivocal motion defending the Supreme Court judgement lost 35-65%.
A series of overly pro-trans rights motions then won by a comprehensive 80-20% vote.
