This term Dr O's Economics students are reading Talking to My Daughter by Yanis Varoufakis. They came up to the library today to collect their books, and while they were here they decided what reading animal they are - there were a lot of tortoises! #bedesreads #goallin #nationalyearofreading2026

We'll be reading three of these titles in next term's Brilliant Books and Biscuits. But not The Things We Leave Behind or Glasgow Boys because we already read those - look at us, fingers all over the literary pulse! #bedesreads #booksky #libraries

Hey, artists, in case you were wondering if your work matters: I'm a scientist working on climate change and biodiversity, and I would not be who I am today without The Lorax, The Secret of NIMH, Watership Down, The Last Unicorn, and The X-Files. I know I'm not alone. Thank you for all you do.

Loved 'Isaac and the Egg' (available in your friendly school library), and looking forward to this one! #bedesreads #booksky
I honestly can't find the words to articulate how beautiful this book is & how moved I was by it. A stunning exploration of love, loss & man's relationship with nature, I'm genuinely lost for how to explain its impact on me. Highly, highly recommend #BookSky

Some days just start earlier... first book of the day was "Ink" by Alice Broadway.

This YA novel is set in a world where no one has any secrets because everything you do, say and are is tattooed onto your skin for everyone to see. - Michael

Standing room only for John McCullough this lunchtime. Fabulous poetry, great Q&A with some brilliant questions from the students, and Dr O and I may have won a bottle of wine each for the poems we wrote for the competition! #bedesreads #booksky #libraries #poetry

It's in the library, folks! #bedesreads
I cannot recommend this book enough, NEVER WHISTLE AT NIGHT ed by @shanehawk.com is my all time favorite anthology. A little bit of everything-ghosts, folklore, creatures…and the best part, I found a lot of new authors to read! You need this #booksky 📚

Such an on-the-money article. I find trying to get boys engaged with books tricky initially, but once you find them a book they enjoy, they fully engage, especially if it's a series. Publishers, please take note and put teen boys on your marketing radar! #booksky #libraries #bedesreads
Has publishing abandoned teen boys?
Teen boys can be tempted back to books, but the industry needs to refocus its efforts.

As a school librarian that teaches kids HOW to identify conspiracy theories, I'm struggling to resist engaging with the TikTok/Meta theories that are all over my feed. @hankgreen.bsky.social has a great TikTok on the topic that's an A+ reminder about verifying sources. #EduSky #TLSky
