It's a big barrier I am trying to overcome, too, as an aspiring DM. I'm not a professional DM, or comedian, or voice actor, but if I can create games people enjoy, that's enough. I can be inspired by the pros without negatively comparing myself.

While Critical Role brought a huge audience to Dungeons and Dragons, I'll always be bummed they also made it performative.
I hear folks afraid to try, worried they wouldn't be "good at it."
Proper D&D is karaoke in a room with friends. No one cares if you sing well, so long as you are having fun.

I am currently planning a beginner friendly D&D adventure for some IRL pals. So excited!
One of my players wants to be a warlock with an incompetent patron, to the point that her spells sometimes go wrong, and one pal wants to be a drag queen. This is going to be beautiful. 👌 #beginnerDM

We used the BG3 characters creator to get the visuals for some of them. Here are my sexiest and most haunting PCs. #dnd #beginnerDM #lostminesofphandelver

I really hope one of my players would like to mess around with a slightly more complex system of foraging and crafting potions and poisons because I have a whole beautiful book about it 😍🌿 #beginnerDM #DnD

Three session zeros coming up over the next 2 weeks. (I'm DMing) I'm honestly so hyped to see the characters and ideas people come up with! #beginnerDM #dnd

How much of the personalities of my NPCs are going to be based on classic British sitcoms, I cannot say for certain. But lots. Many. #beginnerDM #DnD

Having fun adapting the NPCs of Phandalin for my first DnD game. There's a cleric character, and I have decided I'm going to play her like the Vicar of Dibley. Cheerful, warm, raunchy, beautiful plus size woman. #beginnerDM #lostminesofphandelver #dragonoficespirepeak #dnd

Perhaps he's an artificer or a gunslinger. And perhaps at some point, at a higher level, he will loot or be able to save up to buy a better gun.
I'm learning to prioritise player fun and autonomy over my vision for what the story should be like in a fair, balanced way. #beginnerDM
