Indeed, all of the major extermination camps—Sobibor, Chelmno, Belzec, Treblinka, Auschwitz—were all in occupied Poland because even the Nazis wanted to outsource their worst crimes outside Germany proper

Also, Auschwitz, Dachau, and Bergen-Belsen had a slave labor component so there were survivors who could tell their stories. Almost nobody survived Bełzec because it existed purely for mass murder.

Das denk.mal Fruchtschuppen C ist eröffnet! Es erinnert an über 1000 Sinti und Roma, die von diesem Ort in der heutigen Hafencity in Hamburg zwichen 1940 und 1944 nach Belzec und Auschwitz deportiert wurden. Das denk.mal macht ihre Geschichte im Stadtraum sichtbar.
