Putting up the Dave Signal here. Teaching kids about science is often way more fun than benchwork.
ScienceSky I'm putting up a signal. I'm working on a new series of Horrible Science for Children's BBC. We would love to chat to experts about their favourite science facts for kids. I'm looking to chat to chemists first as well as some peeps who know their human biology.

In other news, I’m beginning work on my new HO layout

And one thing I did in advance is order a custom benchwork kit by Mianne Benchwork, and… Man

It was worth the price, it makes Benchwork construction so much easier

One could be embarassed by how many decades it took show Duesberg the door or instead just be happy that, eventually, it happened.

More than a few folks who didn't lose tenure too but, boy howdy, were those benchwork privileges revoked by their peers. Died doing lit review only.

Also I do wonder how hard it'd be to add casters to a model railroad layout after doing the benchwork.

well idk if it was UPS correcting their mistake, or the unintended recipient doing the right thing but HOORAY, ITS HERE!

"it" being 18" x 96" of benchwork to start building half of my N Scale layout which I'm VERY excited to do (but first need to detail a TON of flex track)
well that’s a fantastic first, UPS delivered a package for me to someone else because it was very clearly signed for by someone else 🙃

guess I’ll see if any neighbors stop by later today and if not I’ll have to contact the shipper to open a claim, ugggggh

I built the layout in a room in my basement. It wasn't huge by Train Guy standards, but it was a good size. Amy painted the clouds on the background. It took months of benchwork, wiring, and infrastructure before I even got around to scenery.(2/?)

I didn't post it on the day of, but I did have my TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY at Nature Methods last week. 🥳 My benchwork and the tools I made are the professional legacy of my twenties. My work at the journal is the legacy of my thirties. No big plans for change, but I do ponder what the future holds.

I had a very successful first weekend working on my Canadian clients layout, finally laying track! We went from bare Mianne benchwork to having most the locomotive facility yard laid and the first switch motor in and mine area plateau started. Off to a pretty solid start!

If you want to hire me to help you build a model railroad, diorama, or help you with scenery, NOW is the time. Reach out this week via email and we can begin as soon as you're ready!

I can do it all, from benchwork to backdrops to tracklaying, wiring/DCC, and of course my highly detailed scenery.

With the construction of the benchwork complete and the Scenic Ridge kit unboxed, it's time to start laying out the track. There's still plenty more to acquire. #modeltrains #modeltrain

It also has inspired me to change my career trajectory in a different direction if I get tired of benchwork.

Starting to see how the station plan will fit.

Okay, levelled the model railroad benchwork as best I can, given how uneven the floors are.

Remember: Good enough is better than best.
