And hey, if people can justify Peter Jackson’s exclusion of Tom Bombadil from the LotR trilogy, then I sure as hell can make a case to cut out Beorn from a one or two-movie fancut of The Hobbit.

Case in point, the Rankin Bass Hobbit movie cut out Beorn, yet it’s generally considered as arguably the most faithful screen adaptation of The Hobbit by many.

And yes, while Beorn does help turn the tide in the Battle of the Five Armies, you could probably reframe it to make it seem like the armies of men, elves, and dwarves win without Beorn’s presence.

The Queer Lodgings chapter is one of my personal favorites in the book, but honestly, if we’re really gonna look at the story as a whole, Beorn doesn’t really add much to the narrative other than provide food and shelter for the Company halfway through the journey.

Considering Mikrwood Pathmaker and Misty Mountains Raider. I would take the Pathmaker. It has better numbers and all it asks is for you to hit your land drops. Also it comes down on 3, not 5. Wheel: looking for Reverent Howl, Beorn is my fall back.

Today is #HobbitDay because Bilbo and Frodo Baggins were both born on September 22nd.
