EtfD links beta oxidation to OxPhos in mycobacteria - recent work suggests that targeting EtfD could shorten #tubeculosis treatment.
But how does EtfD work? And how can you assay its activity?
In his final PhD manuscript @courbongautier.bsky.social provides answers!

Here, @proteomis.bsky.social used TMT and label-free #proteomics to analyse @johnathan-n.bsky.social's omega-3 Camelina lines: beta-oxidation and proteasome ⬆️, TAG biosynthesis and seed storage proteins ⬇️ cf. WT. We also estimated pathway enzyme stoichiometry with iBAQ

Out now in EMBO J ahead of World #TB day!
Our friends at the TB Drug Accelerator identified EtfD as a high-priority target for fast acting treatments so @courbongautier.bsky.social jumped into action.
Our EtfD assay & struct are already being used to help find new therapeutics

Orange foods are abundant in alpha & beta-carotene, which serve as precursors to vitamin A, essential for vision, immune function & skin health.

These phytonutrients also support cardiovascular health by reducing cholesterol oxidation & improving blood vessel function.

Hemoglobin M disease, on the other hand is due to a defect in hemoglobin which can be in the alpha, beta, or gamma chain. These defects lead to structural alteration of the heme pocket leading to spontaneous oxidation of Fe++.

Estrogen Receptor Beta Activation Coordinates Liver Lipid Remodeling and Metabolic Fluxes, Preventing Lipotoxicity
ERβ activation restores glucose and lipid homeostasis by remodeling the hepatic lipidome. Mechanistically, it promotes complete fatty acid oxidation and decreases Acetyl-CoA levels, leading to reduce...

myristic, palmitic and stearic acids, that neurons use for beta oxidation energy at rest and especially during high neuronal activity (www.nature.com/articles/s42...). This endogenous fatty acid pathway provides ~20% of total neuronal energy at rest, even at hyperglycemic conditions. 2/3

Data wranglers, I need some help.

I have metabolic pathways with this kind of encoding

oleate β-oxidation

(<i>S</i>)-propane-1,2-diol degradation

How do I tell R to interpret the text so I get a oleate β-oxidation and 𝘚-propane-1,2-diol degradation? I'm not having luck with stack overflow
