"I've been radicalized on bicycle and pedestrian safety."

You love to hear it! 👏🏻👏🏻

Each month, the Charlottesville Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee hosts and leads a walk through a different neighborhood in the city. For November the walk was in the Venable neighborhood. I took some photos of the group as well as some stuff we saw along the way.

Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson announced a Bicycle Sundays schedule (when Lake Washington Boulevard is off-limits to cars) that includes 65 percent more days than her predecessor's parsimonious version of the annual pedestrian- and bike-friendly celebration.

what if instead of being transphobic garbage, KOSA was actually the Kids Outside Safety Act and it was a sweeping federal investment in modern bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure (w/ shade trees) across the nation so that the most vulnerable members of society are able to safety go outside to play

I have done a lot of work to fast-track much-needed housing, and through that work I have seen another area in desperate need of streamlining: transportation projects to increase bicycle and pedestrian safety.

This sums up every experience I've had with cops when they are making bicycle and/or pedestrian infrastructure less safe.
As they were walking from behind the building, I asked them if they could find a better spot to park (like the parking lot literally five feet in front of their vehicle). They both angrily glared at me like I was the asshole in that situation.

The new mayor of #Paris, Emmanuel Grégoire, celebrated his victory last night by riding to city hall on a Vélib' bikeshare bicycle.

Bicycle (+ pedestrian) sidepaths are way better than painted on-street lanes in the rural context.
Three years ago, under the Dark Sky, I asked my followers to send me examples of relatively recent bike lanes in the French countryside. Here are 4 before/after examples I was then able to create with Streetview, to promote the idea that creating bike lanes outside cities is also a possibility.

So many towns and cities are just like this... lacking safe bicycle & pedestrian infrastructure!
You are so Nashville if your kid's 1.5 mile ride to school requires a practice run on a Sunday morning, stringing together a convoluted route of sidewalks and alleyways because there's not a shred of bicycle infrastructure to keep her safe.

And when a driver kills/injures a pedestrian, it’s reported as “a Toyota Camry” doing it. If a bicycle is involved it’s “a cyclist” not “a Trek 6500”.

Why do we even have a Bicycle Advisory Committee (and Pedestrian Advisory Committee) if not for conversations like these?

The Bicycle Advisory Committee is meeting 8/12 - I hope the administration uses that time to discuss this with affected people before making changes on the ground.
