Hi On Wednesday, I had the privilege of presenting on the keynote stage at BigDataLDN to a room of almost 300 people. People were queuing outside to get in. Afterwards, they queued to speak with me. The response in the room—and then on LinkedIn the next day—was genuinely overwhelming. But 25 years ago, I could barely stand in front of fewer than ten people without my legs shaking. I was quiet, easily embarrassed and intimidated by public speaking. During a leadership training course, I had to give a short presentation about baking cakes. I was so nervous that I held on to the table because I thought I might fall over. That contrast made me reflect on confidence, visibility and vulnerability, and on why it matters to share the parts of our journeys that do not look polished.
