Five bidders have been shortlisted to build the ScotRail new suburban train fleet, of at least 69 new battery-electric trains with options for up to 37 more. The five shortlisted are Alstom, CAF, Hitachi, Siemens & Stadler. The trains are planned to be introduced in the early 2030s

I’m not the first person to make this observation, but these cycle hangers are ridiculous! Having successfully got a bike reservation at last minute, next barrier to taking a bike on a train being able to lift it above head height- despite being tall and able bodied, needed help!

Well, I made it in the end. It only took 5 hours to get from Tiverton Parkway to Cardiff, I could have driven here in 2 hours. It's absolute carnage on the railways at the moment #RailFail #BikesOnTrains

Normally a direct train to Cardiff from Tiverton Parkway only takes 2 hours, I've already changed at Taunton and I've spent more time in stations than on the trains #cycling #BikesOnTrains

I'm on an old Avanti west coast train run by Crosscountry. I couldn't find the bike spaces because it's an older train so it's at the front or the back behind the drivers cab.
As it's a 7½ journey, bikes hung up and bags are with me. No standing on a crowded train this time #bikesontrains #cycling
