I mean, it looks like they're related to me. Here's another site explaining what blitters are, and it sounds like they're tied fairly tightly together with bitmapping. everything.explained.today/Blitter/

The Jaguar uses a blitter. That much is clear from the technical document, after reams and reams of boring bare metal talk about registers and bit shifting. However, it sounds like the blitter (fast way to transfer pixels to the display) and bitmapping are related.

"The sprites on Jaguar aren't sprites, and you should be ashamed of yourself for saying so."
Okay, so it's bitmapping?
"NO! It is not bitmapping! It is the opposite of bitmapping!"
So it's not sprites, or tiles, or bitmapping. Evidently Jaguar graphics are made by magic pixel pixies. O_o;

Sprites/tiles vs. polygons is akin to raster images vs. vectorised ones. You mentioned bitmapping, and it's sort of the same thing. Instead of dropping a single pixel anywhere, you can drop a primitive (be it a pixel, a line or a poly) anywhere, and the GPU does the magic for you!

One early console that used bitmapping was the Bally Astrocade, and while it has a massive amount of memory for 1978 (4K!), that's 4K for EVERYTHING, including graphics. If you fill the screen with graphics, you'll have nothing left for game logic. And that's just four colors at a low resolution!

The 7800 has its own graphical weirdness. It's a bitmapped system, as Ataris tend to be, and as such it needs a display list to manage all the onscreen zones. Nintendo and Sega systems generally do NOT have bitmapping, opting for tiles instead.

I'm hoping bluesky doesn't distort the bitmapping

but heres a comic about my gender fantasy around draw on gender arororo :>

Also! Because the bitmapping takes up so much space in RAM, you can't use every scanline and still expect to have room for game logic. Evidently RAM is a shared resource! You can realistically use 91 scanlines, which isn't far from the vertical resolution of the Astrocade.

Genuinely can't tell if it's my internet or feeds are showing lots of black screen and bitmapping/halting at the source? Currently cam 1. #bb28

Foto-Blip #1

Apparently, I’m on a pixelation kick at the moment, and I’ve switched to bitmapping the hell out of my digital photos. You’ll have to excuse me if I go a little overboard through the next batch of posts! 🙂

I made a valiant effort, but unfortunately, it is 2 am and I need to throw in the towel. Kpop pride playlist zine can't be finished before I leave in...uh...six hours. Not sure how the bitmapping will look on bsky, but here's a peek. It kinda rules

Horses for courses, but personally never had any trouble reading Garamond italics, even if I know what you mean by the uneven angles. Sabon doesn't have these problems (not uneven, plus thicker), and hopefully any pdf conversion issue (bitmapping text, to be precise) is now resolved.

Practical special effects in movies. Most CGI tends to look the same - animators have difficulty depicting the mass of objects - digital matte work feels less realistic than mattes painted on glass - digital weathering/bitmapping of CGI models tends to look less realistic than weathered practicals.
You're Gen X. You can bring back one thing from the 80s. What is it?

I can barely put into proper words how amazing this event was, and how amazing the team behind it is. I'd helped out with building in one area of the map along with handling some of the bitmapping, but by far what brought me to tears was when my song came on during the release party.

This is my Art Summary for 2025.

I noticed my art style has started to improve more a bit with me learning about texturing and bitmapping my artworks.

I'm so proud of what I've learned.

But i'm mostly thankful for all of you guys support on my artworks as a artist and a friend and person!

Oh man, dithering is SO much fun to use! i bought a Photoshop plugin (www.doronsupply.com/product/dith...) that even has a “Sierra” dithering effect that REALLY makes an image look like something from mid 90s Sierra/Dynamix games!

They can, but bitmapping inks before sending them to color helps out a few ways: it makes the art a little more crisp, and certain tools like the magic wand, paint bucket, and more can be more easily used when you bitmap the art first. So its not required to do it, but it can help the colorist

Here’s some examples of how you would see the bitmapping in a datasheet.

Values can be integers, enums, booleans, signed, unsigned, etc etc. That’s where elixirs binary pattern matching is really powerful! In the end, your code just looks how it is defined in the manufacturers documentation
