Tbh I am legitimately unsure if you could do the whole thing (including the whole machines to make machines to make tools for the machine to make the part bit) domestically

Maybe 3 weeks if your grid operators have a great "blackstart" system in place. But probably on the order of months for full grid restoration.
Fun fact, after our winter storm, there were inspections and the "blackstart" plants... most of them were woefully unprepared to function if needed.

Re-edited some shots from my trip to Israel in 2019 with Phil Jones & Andy Stirrat, quite happy with the results. Black Bush Robin was the most sought after + Blackstart and Ruppell's Warbler.

Well it was very pleasant looking out to sea at Dungeness yesterday but the nor-westerly unhelpful. A single Guillemot on the sea, many distant Gannet, 30 east-heading Scoter and 2 in-off Swallow (behind me a Blackstart and a song flight performing Mipit).

There are a few power stations that can start generating power without needing outside power. This is called "blackstart" capability, and hydro stations tend to be in this category. Hence, in resuming operations, the blackstart stations are used to start the other generators.
