Breath of Fire too was pretty dang good. Never beat it though, Beat BoF1. I really need to give it another run.

BoF1 and 2 also both do this shit where they're like 'why would monsters drop decent money? they're monsters. you get money from chests or by doing this hunting minigame'

bof1's random encounters are totally mindless even like 4 dungeons in. but god if i don't love seeing ryu snap across the screen every time he attacks

BoF1 is my favorite in the series and I will not be swayed
i cant substantiate this at all but ryu bof1 is incredibly cool to me. radiates charisma that other archetypal hero boys don't. yes i know he has almost no distinguishing characteristics

I haven't posted about it, but I've been casually playing BoF1 recently. I'm finding the game just kinda okay but it's easy so I'm playing it while watching some anime.

Christ I'm not sure I have the patience for this encounter rate anymore alongside slow battles xD Frameskip of course helps, but early on resources are taxed enough.
I played the hell out of BoF1 and 2 as a kid, but we'll see how this goes x3 see if walking really does make a difference

When I started Breath of Fire 1 I saw people say you don't need to play BoF1 because BoF is like Final Fantasy and every game is its own separate thing, but that's very clearly wrong. You certainly don't need to play BoF1 to understand 2 because the references to 1's story are pretty minor.

I think it's pretty cool how, even though the world's design has changed a lot between the games, the general shape of BoF1's and BoF2's worlds are the same and recurring towns are in the same locations (I stitched the BoF1 map with shareX, which is why the seams look so bad)
