#bootstrappable
The goal of every professional right-winger is to attract the patronage of rich men- classically getting hired by Heritage or Cato, or maybe Human Events or the Washington Times, but now bootstrappable through influencer work. Remove the funding and incentive and organized conservatism evaporates.

I decided to be a responsible adult and broke things up into 7 functions to be executed consecutively.
Then I wrapped 3 steps of them in a bootstrappable function.
Now I'm checking whether the whole thing runs including the bootstrap, and if that works I'm gonna write a meta-function.
Me, while nesting functions within functions within functions: maybe this isn't a great idea.

Who would be subsidizing them? The default is that if a business is bootstrappable, i.e. you can scale it without taking tons of outside investment it's profitable. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to grow the business.

It is ridiculous to think that world creators are what are going to "start" the economy. This is not bootstrappable from the outside without it getting quickly toxic.

Bootstrappable builds could transform how we verify Linux supply chain integrity. Unlike reproducible builds, they eliminate the black box problem by starting from a tiny seed and building everything up—ensuring you know…

hype is eternal, but whenever the thing happens it will probably seem surprising. we actually have no idea what is required for it and there's no strong indication it's not achievable or bootstrappable with what we have on hand

I'm pretty sure industrial civilization can now, at least, given how much more we know about efficient solar. Even before that, with an *immense* exertion you could build a nuclear reactor to get power--they're definitely bootstrappable with fairly limited technical sophistication.

yay and his amazing "Reflections on Trusting Trust" was the grand inspiration for #GNU Mes and to start implementing the Full Source Bootstrap in #Guix!  Thank you so much Ken!

glancing through it - yeah, I could see that working as a holistic solution, for sure, though it'd need the whole structure for stability. yours is at least bootstrappable tho!

my fave uses a single irrevocable change to our money itself, but that also makes it basically impossible to enact 😅

SmithForth dacvs.neocities.org/SF/ just made me realize that machine code is THE way to go. David just makes it so easy with the "xxd -r" trick to write machine code by hand. Combined with RISC-V, I think there's a good path forward for a very simple bootstrappable toolchain.

Yeah, there’s a whole literature around neural nets as a degraded model of actual neurobiological systems that gets into the question of ANNs mimicking in a weak sense actual animal intelligence. (If LLMs are bootstrappable into human-like AGI, which I am very skeptical about, it brings into /

With Discord apps this is probably just bootstrappable to DM there. Depends on how old the Bluesky crew is i guess.

Also ... what is the root goal here? If the goal is to have a fully bootstrappable compiler from independent sources then this is a perfectly viable path. If the goal is to do that + review the code at every step and understand it then you want to start building up proto compilers.

Wonder if it's like, easily bootstrappable as an open source movement. @wang.social I imagine you might have thought about a nodejs science stack before, is it like super hard?
