A sunny day at Bovisand Beach, exploring the shore and a land strewn with buildings from the past. On a stretch of the SW Coast Path, I met Old Man Bovi with an important message. Read about it all here: wordloft.co.uk/blog/sea-for...

At Bovisand, I met ‘Old Man Bovi’. A driftwood sculpture wearing a crown. He was amusing, but a plaque under his rusty locks imparted a serious message. “The Old Man Bovi says, keep our sea plastic free! Thankee M’dears.”

Tarzan’s Nest & Bovisand Beach. Mum & aunt used to walk here in the 40s/50s around the headland, when there was nothing here but sand, sea, rocks…

Now pretty well populated by holiday chalets, Greg Dyke’s luxury gated community..

Just took aunt to Bovisand on the outskirts of Plymouth- her haunt, along with my mum’s, when kids. She was upset to see Greg Dyke’s luxury gated houses, the cafe (used to be nice) flogging “cheesy chips” & charging for parking (used to be free).

On the SW Coastal Path towards Bovisand

Former BBC Director General Greg Dyke owns a chunk of coast & has built luxury houses with a promise of creating a marine education centre…which doesn’t look, er, finished

Before this millionaire financier, we had the “Seattle-on-Sea” crap from Bingley (the former UKIP-Tory council leader & who chopped down 100 trees at night), before that, Greg Dyke buying Fort Bovisand for luxury gated apartments & a promise of a marine “education” centre..

Predators
“..we’ew sitting on the most ‘spectacular, prime real estate in the country’ and by that, he means our seafront. Angus wants to ‘bring investment’ into the city by paving the way for developers to build an array of luxury property with beautiful sea views.”

This is tonight's listening.

I remember in... 1988, being in the back of a school minibus listening to this on the five hour drive back from Fort Bovisand, slightly hungover & queasy, but with this playing at full volume through my Walkman. Good times.
