Habitat with pesticides isn't safe for pollinators! There's a lot you can do to help, like getting used to some nibbled leaves, removing weeds by hand, & buying pesticide-free plants.

To keep pollinators coming back year after year, they need places to take shelter & raise their offspring: bare soil, plant stems, brush piles, and fallen leaves!

It only takes one person & a little bit of space to help a whole lot of bugs. But that impact is amplified by every other piece of habitat nearby! And there are bigger challenges out there that need a team effort.

It's apparently Pollinator Week so here is a sparkly bicolored striped sweat bee doing good work

These colorful bees live in communal dirt burrows in our small Chicago yard and make good use of the many native and non-native flowers growing around our neighborhood

Apparently it's pollinator week! How cool is that?!

To celebrate here are a couple (four, hah!) of #watercolor paintings from forever ago of adorable little bees. Enjoy!

#bringbackthepollinators !! This #pollinatorweek I have to show off my back woods naturalized with native scarlet bee balm, now all abuzz with hummingbirds dinking nectar from the flowers and spreading the pollen with their wings #lesslawnmorelife

It’s #pollinatorweek!

Not all pollinators are bees! Pollinators include species of butterflies, moths, wasps, beetles, and flies. Birds and bats also can be!

Here we have a bee, a beetle, and a fly that are all pollinators on a Canada anemone native plant.

#pollinatorweek #bringbackthepollinators These salvia and Angelina aren’t native, but I always put them out in pots on the balcony at the start of spring so there is food for hummingbirds, who are pollinators extraordinaire.

The hobbitses have replaced their turf grass lawn with native wild strawberries! A wise choice. The white flowers are enjoyed by bees. Required zero watering even while neighboring lawns were scorched. #pollinatorweek

It’s #pollinatorweek!

We often think of honeybees when we think of pollinators, but there are a wide variety of really cool native bees out there.

Reminder that when we say #BringBackThePollinators, we are not referring to honeybees, they are non-native livestock.

#pollinatorweek ripped out my non-native Butterfly Bush (👎🏻) and replaced it with spotted bee balm (pink&green petals 💚💗) and butterfly milkweed. The later is best because it feeds both larvae (caterpillars) and adults of Monarch butterflies. #pollinatorweek #plantnatives #lesslawnmorelife 🎉🥳👏🍾
