Inspired by a scene from today's walk… 👣

`A sloping meadow,
scattered autumn-yellow trees,
circling buzzards`

Good morning bluesky

Today we can't even see the other side of the valley ☁️

`Speckled buzzards
circling under
dark-clouded skies`

What a stunning walk. Birding highlights: Ravens, Fieldfares, Redwings, Siskin, followed a Kingfisher on the canal, Buzzards, Kestrels, Reed Bunting, Mipits, Mistle Thrushes, Cetti's GCGrebes, Tufted Ducks, Pink-footed Geese & a stunning Gull Lesser Black-backed I think!

Buzzards, circling thought they might just be Red Kites
But they were beautiful Buzzards…a still totally blue sky sunny autumn day with them silhouetted against sky..

I love a Sunday morning wood walk, dusting off a gentle hangover with my boy. (Last pic, this year’s Sparrowhawk nest, predated by either Buzzards or Goshawks.)

Beautiful walk through Clapham Woods, finding fungi among the oaks and sweet chestnuts.
Saw a jay collecting the nuts, several buzzards and a raven.

Shorter walk this morning, it was a misty dull walk but it was brightened by the flocks of Redwings & Fieldfares chattering all around! Also Ravens, Buzzards, Kestrel, calling Tawny Owls, Kingfisher, Meadow Pipits, Cetti's, Siskins, Mistle & Song Thrushes, GSWoodpecker, Pink-Footed Geese

Because they want deregulation for landowners to do what they like, and wildlife protection laws are a wedge issue for them. Break the taboo of 'sacrosanct' wildlife protection for badgers or buzzards, and that sets precedent for much wider deregulation for hunting, shooting, habitat destruction.

Sir, I will hogtie your ass and leave you for the buzzards.

It’s that time again @windingdot.bsky.social

I’m whipping through the neighborhood blasting Bee Thousand talmbout “betta yet let’s all get wet on the tractor tape chain”

I love how the low winter sun lights the buzzards wings …

Driving the A35 bere Regis to Dorchester just after sunrise
Loads of pigeon movement, and loads of flocks of thrush like birds all going north

2 red kites

If there’s one message I would have for the Dream, it’s this: you’re the best team in State Farm Arena. You filled it at all hours, you defended it at all hours, drive those MenBA turkey buzzards out and take the home court that is rightfully and deservedly yours as the alpha basketball team in 404

Country ones are just as noisy! And you should hear the fuss when buzzards stray into air space they think is theirs 😅

Don't think I ever noticed the buzzards circling the house that the Choctaw vampire hunters come to first, that's a great bit

What's that? Oh, glad you asked, etc...

Leyton Buzzards would go on to form Modern Romance whose disco dub mixes were a big draw in NYC clubs, but also championed by Frankie Knuckles at the Warehouse and Power Plant www.youtube.com/watch?v=uyGe...

you buzzards will not survive this winter
Dying thinking about someone who learns this from reading the New York Times

A friend of mine was a writer for a short-lived BBC comedy quiz show about the Scottish outdoors. The contestants' buzzers were in the shape of buzzards' heads, and at the start of the quick-fire round they were advised to have "fingers on buzzards".
He was quite proud of that joke.
