I’ve heard an increasing number of reports like this from Ward 4 neighbors — which concerns me as animals face freezing temperatures. DC Health and BVSPCA need to urgently address this situation.
There are 2 dogs who’ve been left in a car outside my house for over an hour while it’s freezing cold. They’re barking nonstop. So I called it into 311, they transferred me to animal services, who said they’d follow up during normal business hours.

The BVSPCA Second Chance Program transported over 60 rescue dogs from overcrowded Southern California shelters to Pennsylvania to increase adoption opportunities. Some of the dogs visited the Astra TV Awards before departing on the year's largest rescue flight.
Rescue dogs attend TV awards before flying to PA for second chance at finding home
Over 60 dogs arrived in Pennsylvania from Southern California as part of a rescue flight with the Brandywine Valley's SPCA (BVSPCA) Second Chance Program Monday.
The program is aimed at relocating homeless pets from shelters that are overcrowded or are at risk of experiencing euthanasia.
The BVSPCA partners with the Riverside County Department of Animal Services (RCDAS) to transport animals to shelters that are less crowded and have a high demand for adoption.
Rescuers said this flight was the largest they've done this year, giving more dogs in Southern California a chance at finding a home.
Before flying to Pennsylvania, a few of the dogs were brought to the Astra TV Awards in Los Angeles where they were able to interact with some big name celebrities, including those with ties to PA, like William H. Macy.

I really love my dog, Ginger. She was a rescue, weighing only 31 lbs when taken by the BVSPCA here in DE at approximately 2 years old. She is a GSD mixed with ? and She now weighs approximately 60 lbs. She's quirky, happy, protective and just a sheer pleasure to be with.
