C2E2 in 2024 was one of the first time they got back together after COVID. And I think it was like the first time at a big fan convention for Hugh for fans, I think.

You know... had I not seen @emmalerae.bsky.social at C2E2 one year selling dinosaur art and being gorgeous and trans... I probably would have stayed in my half-egg a lot longer.
Representation *is* important. Seeing how we can be is so meaningful

I'm gonna be doing mostly more local stuff this year. I signed up for C2E2 and I'm doing a couple of midwest markets!

Really well! It was far smaller than I was expecting. Lots of nice folks, some great costume builds. You were right, there quite a few people who wanted pictures.. They’re already talking about going to a bigger con at some point in the future; maybe C2E2.

I applied to C2E2. I feel like it's the usual uphill battle because, well, you see my art "style." I know it's the biz, that there's a lot of artist alleys at big shows where artists don't have comics. But several questions are about how many books you've made, who you've worked with, etc.

I met Patrick Stewart just once at C2E2 in Chicago. I told him my family grew up together watching him on TNG. His face lit up in warmth and delight. He thanked me for watching. I don't have much experience with celebrities. But Sir Stewart was a legend. www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdXT...

So when I hear small local indie shows like CAKE are really hard to get into, and shows like C2E2 are $500 a table and also hard to get into, I focus on the C2E2 Pro badge and networking instead.

I actually met him in C2E2. Got to tell him how much I loved Mass Effect. He said "a lot of people seem to like that one. I should watch it"

They've created extraordinary opportunities for creators, & the artist alleys of C2E2, HeroesCon, and NYCC could be their own conventions. But when the comic con becomes a sprawling pop-culture bazaar, who builds the infrastructure for the people actually making the comics? (7/10)

+1 to all of this.
Turning comic cons into pop culture merch flea markets hasnt been good for anyone who actually gives a shit about comics. I don't know why they bother to call them comic conventions anymore.
Cons like CAKE and TCAF have the right recipe. C2E2 and ECCC are not for me anymore.
