There should be immediate petition for injunction for Endangered species reasons, likely to be Night-blooming Cereus cacti there, several listed bats use for food.
NEW: Tohono O'odham Nation leadership issued a release announcing that they’ve filed an emergency injunction after been informed by CBP that “it intends to remove thousands of Saguaros and other vegetation,” on sovereign tribal lands. The destruction is set to begin on Indigenous Peoples Day.

I like my terrarium! I have some cacti and succulents in there and the lid keeps the moisture level at a decent rate! Try considering enclosed systems that require little maintenance.

Getting a plant light that has a timer is super helpful and can even help fight seasonal depression!

The word most people use for this field was coined in 1957 by psychiatrist Humphry Osmond, writing to Aldous Huxley: Greek psyche, mind, and deloun, to make visible. Their letters appeared in 2018 as Psychedelic Prophets, a primary source.

This Joshua Tree highway keeps killing wildlife. Enter the poop-hunting dogs
Rescue dogs Merlin and Siska are readying for an important mission out in the Mojave Desert: find animal poop. As the fall brings cooler temperatures, the pups will trot among the Joshua trees wearing orange vests, “doggles” to shield their eyes from the sun and booties to protect them from the prickly cholla cacti. As wildlife biologist Christina Aiello searches for droppings of bighorn sheep, which are relatively abundant, the dog duo from Rogue Detection Teams will sniff out harder-to-find bobcat and mountain lion scat. Here, conservationists are planning to build two wildlife crossings over State Route 62, which connects Los Angeles and Joshua Tree National Park and is the site of hundreds of collisions between cars and wildlife every year. Dead sheep and bears strewn along the pavement have disturbed local residents for years, but ecologists fear the road may also cause a much slower and quieter die-off, with mountain lions inbreeding as they are cut off from other lions. As California works to build dozens more crossings like these around the state, researchers are hoping their animal poop surveys will show that the benefits of these crossings extend hundreds of miles beyond the roadway. “The isolation, long-term, of...

There are certain places where I've felt no one has ever trodden there: one in a forest in Northern Spain; another in the Arizona desert, a dell of untouched cacti, flowering. Natural sanctity.

These photos are from June 2025. I grew these from seeds which were meant to be Cleistocactus sp. 40cm. I assume 40cm is how tall it grows. The smaller seedling wasn't doing well so I decided to put them in separate pots.
