it’s called capital efficiency

Until last year, Vienna depended on Russian gas to stay warm in winter.

Having cut itself off, the city is now investing billions into heat pumps, energy efficiency and geothermal energy
Vienna Embraces Heat Pumps to Ditch Russian Gas
The Austrian capital has a $21 billion plan to end its dependence on imported natural gas with heat pumps, boreholes and energy efficiency.

Destroy foreign trade
Betray allies
By losing allies as customers, decimate the defense industry
Destroy government efficiency and capacity (and its human capital)
Vandalize and then sell off government buildings
Destroy basic research
Destroy public health
Destroy the higher education system

Marx would very clearly want to liberate AI from Capital rather than destroy it.

The man *loved* technological efficiency gains.

Burn data centers down.

We dont need robots to streamline wealth accumulation for the rich.

Life doesn't require maximal capital efficiency.

Capital flows to the energy sector are set to rise in 2025 to USD 3.3 trillion.

Around USD 2.2 trillion is going collectively to renewables, nuclear, grids, storage, low-emissions fuels, efficiency and electrification, twice as much as the USD 1.1 trillion going to oil, natural gas and coal.

Chancellor talks about energy security but yet again - just another way of funding private capital.

What about investing in renewables & nationalising our energy companies?

What about energy efficiency & prioritising insulating homes of poorest households?

Bring bills down.

it’s a mindset completely rotted by efficiency because to them taking the time to learn a skill like Art or Game Design is a waste of human capital but also a wholly inaccessible skill nobody can learn without their little robot

One thing I just thought about

capital must expand the mass of investment to maintain the same absolute surplus value even as the rate declines. For a public service buying from private suppliers input costs rise structurally over time regardless of the public institution’s efficiency

This worldview makes sense if “efficiency” is your highest goal. You can outsource expenditures for human infrastructure to other countries and then import that fully formed human capital.

“Ironically, this outrageous waste of human capital – when key federal agencies such as the National Park Service were horribly understaffed – was done in the name of government efficiency.”

This morning at city council, Rob Saka said he opposes capital gains because it's not "the right time" and that they should revisit the idea every year. Efficiency!

From the perspective of capital, "enslaved" is the most efficient thing a person can be. And, since our Federal Branch of Sabotage Destruction & Punishment is opposed to all other kinds of efficiency imaginable, I'd must conclude that it is enslavement that it means when it talks about efficiency.

Any savings they claim does not account for the significant increase in contracting and capital costs that derive from the massive and widespread breach of trust from this initiative.

Stop calling this an efficiency or savings project. It offers neither.

Op ed forthcoming.

It's vital to state clearly that the push for renewable energy is about more than protecting the planet (which is reason enough.)

You can't manufacture scarcity with renewable energy. You can't as easily limit access to it. It's not about availability and efficiency, it's about capital and control.

"With an average selling price hovering around $78,000, this stockpile represents a big chunk of capital, potentially reaching close to $800 million worth of unsold Cybertrucks."

The entire Meals On Wheels budget is $865 million, and federal grants pay for only 40% of that.

Efficiency my ass.

AI as a human capital risk: The efficiency gains in pupils’ day-to-day schoolwork come at the cost of a significant decline in actual knowledge and problem-solving skills if pupils do not learn to use AI as a tool to enhance learning rather than as a shortcut.

A Warning Shot for Human Capital: Evidence of an AI Learning Penalty
Uncontrolled AI use may harm human capital more than controlled interventions help. A China study found student exam scores fell 20% despite improved homework, signaling a critical, understudied risk.

we have built an economy that rewards speed over thought, efficiency over craft, and capital accumulation over human flourishing.

If we want to confront the devaluation of jobs and professional expertise; or the enormous environmental costs of AI and its data centers,..

I know it's basically a semantic argument, but "cheaper = more efficient" is a false equivalence created by a managerial class that doesn't actually do any of the work. Efficiency is a matter of energy conservation, but capital, which never actually expends energy, can only view it in terms of money
