From yesterday's visit to the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, some small bits of fresco with images of birds from a villa in the area of Čapljina for #FrescoFriday. Dated to the 2nd-3rd century CE.

Today marks 32 yrs since the destruction of Mostar’s Old Bridge by Croat nationalist forces under command of war criminal Praljak during the Bosnian War. One of the most grotesque acts of “culturcide” of the 20th century.

Recent events suggest a renewed surge in nationalist extremism in Croatia.

2/2 Rest of the year the train runs only Sarajevo-Mostar-Čapljina (last station in Bosnia) - but there ought to be a bus from either Ploce or Metković to Čapljina.

Sarajevo-Mostar-Čapljina is an amazing route though - albeit slow...

Left Mostar today to stay in the little town of Capljina which is close to the very cute historical village of Pocitej which is definitely worth a visit

There's a Fort you can walk up to and climb up to get beautiful views of the surrounding area. Absolutely loved it!

One train to Čapljina and back is extended to Ploče, Croatia on summer weekends. 🏖️

Ganz grundsätzlich ist Sarajevo - Mostar eine der schönsten Eisenbahnstrecken Europas, wie ich finde. (und auch das weitere Stück Richtung Čapljina und Ploče ist noch recht hübsch)
