That's easy and yum sounding. Btw learned the other day that capers aren't seeds, they're unopened flower buds of the caper bush (Capparis spinosa). Cooked for decades, never knew that.

Caper Bush (Capparis Spinosa) also sometimes known as Flinders rose

An interesting weed growing out of a cracked concrete wall behind a small beach on the eastern ionian. Turns out that this is probably a caper (Capparis spinosa) which turns out to be related to brassicas. TIL. I hadn’t expected them to look so pretty.

Capers are the pickled flower buds of the Caper Bush, Capparis spinosa. They are tangy and salty and delicious!

If you have been reading here at Vraicking for a few years, you might know, if you have been paying attention to the calendar, that yesterday was a minor Inultarumet holiday called Carpe Capparis. I hope you told all your near and dear ones to seize the capers. You also might have figured out that today is Jarjella, or Jelly Jar Day, or Kafkugannee (there are no good reasons for these names, the stories are many, none of them are credible), which is the first day of the last month of…

Davis, CA Gardener request - Anyone around have live Capparis spinosa plants growing? We are trying to build up a diversity collection and would love to get some cutting to try and start new plants.

An interesting mix of endemic & non-native plants on the island, among the most beautiful & extraordinary I found were: Capparis spinosa, the Caper bush (also called Fiddler's Rose); & the Agave Americana, also known as the Century Plant, throwing up flower stems up to 8m high, native to Mexico.

Euphorbia lathyrus, Caper Spurge, naturalised in a village verge. So called because its fruits resemble those of the true caper, Capparis spinosa. But the euphorbia fruits are very poisonous. Don’t get them mixed up.

Andrea photographed our beautiful native maiapilo (Capparis sandwichiana) flower on our Friday morning walk before breakfast. Maiapilo is found only in Hawaiʻi. Extremely difficult for bonsai.

I’ve had this little #caper bush (#Capparis spinosa) for four (4!) years now. It isn’t really growing, it doesn’t look like much and it’ll probably never be a beautiful #bonsai, but for the first time this year: it’s flowering!
