NEW: Carshare is a really important strategic part of multi-modal cities with fewer cars/parking needed. And not just in large cities —for smaller cities too! Last night Kingston Canada’s City Council unanimously passed a key part of a new strategy I helped create to position carshare for success.

One thing I’d like to see is Communauto expand more into the suburbs.
A combination of bikes/e-bikes/e-scooters + carshare or transit + carshare could work for a number of people in some parts of HRM (more so the closer suburbs than the outlying rural parts of HRM probably).

I made it to Costco by 10am but the location was already super busy. Uber rides there and back were cheaper than booking a carshare for the two hours ($24-$30). I also spent more than expected but feel good about all of my purchases, including a hot dog.
If I go to sleep right now, I will wake up with enough time to eat breakfast, walk my dog and go to Costco before the crowds arrive.

I would like to propose EV carshare as another "missing middle" option. Waymo is an okay idea, but will it drive me to Great Falls? Or easily change destinations when the entrance line to the park is too long but there's a state park nearby instead? Carshare lets me do that.

Because of repair costs and horrible resale value, Hertz took a *$245 million* haircut on their fleet of Teslas, to the point they've been forced back to gasoline.
Note the problem here wasn't the electric cars. It was all problems very specific to Tesla.

There's a non-profit carshare service in my city that uses mostly electric vehicles - Chevy Bolts and Nissan Leafs (leaves?). It's doing well and the cars are everywhere.

Boston is getting my dream car setup - electric Zipcar carshare, and powered by solar panels! What's cool too is since a carshare car is usually only getting driven ~30mi a day, the solar panels are plenty to keep them charged and happy

Not surprising, since the people who rent Evie cars are often car free/car lite… & likely also walk/bike/take transit, so may be safer drivers as a result.

I had an Evie Carshare driver pass me *so* safely yesterday… which made me realize I’ve never seen one driven unsafely or aggressively.
Not surprising, since the people who rent Evie cars are often car free/car lite… & likely also walk/bike/take transit, so may be safer drivers as a result.
