The first all-female team to share a Nobel Prize in science: biochemists Jennifer Doudna & Emmanuelle Charpentier.

They won the 2020 #Nobel Prize in #Chemistry "for the development of a method for genome editing (CRISPR-Cas9)." Jennifer Doudna was born #OTD in 1964.

Someone got Cas9-Turbo to work. It's like basically Y1H but with proteomics. It however requires transgenic plant expressing Cas9-Turbo and gRNAs, which is still cumbersome for many plants that are not Arabidopsis. #PlantSciences

Our last pre-print of 2024! We created a simple, temporally-controlled CRISPR/Cas9 system that doesn’t compromise between background and induced editing. As best we can tell, this is the closest thing to a "worry free" inducible Cas9 approach out there. See thread.

Very excited to share the first story from my postdoc where we uncover the structural basis for slow Cas9 turnover!

We use kinetics-guided cryo-EM to capture 25 conformational states of SpCas9 from a single dataset - including the first look at Cas9 releasing product.
