not to be all “old man yells at cloud” but if a cashpoint was able to tell me in the mid nineties that it was out of paper and couldn’t give me a receipt, why can’t a self-service till do that in 2026

Ha. Yeah. Maybe not
I believe his parents live Weybridge way.
A mate of a mate was behind him in the queue at a cashpoint at Tescos.

The only things in the services that are actually enticing are:

- The car wash at the garage, which is relatively cheap for these parts.
- The free to use cashpoint at the garage, which is the only one in a 5 mile radius.

Irvine Welsh wrote a novel in which one of the subplots was Rangers fans being robbed of their cashpoint cards, the point being that half of them had 1690 as their PIN.

Load the money onto a debit card that can't be used in a cashpoint. Restrict anything that requires you to be 18+ to purchase.

Oh dear, that doesn’t sound too good. Having spent 16yrs in the OR within our NHS I rapidly learnt hit any buttons, ie, lift & cashpoint with your knuckle & carry around hand sanitizer everywhere x

Spotted the Hibs owner at the cashpoint on Leith Walk, checking his balance. Looks like Jon Dahl Tomasson might not be a goer. Could be a Lee Johnson style, David Brent, car salesman type incoming instead.

I started rewatching Slow Horses S2, and River's aura loss when he had to go use a cashpoint because he didn't have enough money to bribe the taxi driver needs to be studied 😭😭

Indeed. The crucial part of “we’ll march yobs to the cashpoint” is it was a positional statement that was a) new and b) accompanied by real policies. This is just “that New Labour policy that is still on the books - we’ll do it, uh, harder somehow”.

Zonked Out! At The Cashpoint

I needed cash (A decent amount to pay a chap who only works for cash), so this a.m. drove the 78 mile round trip to the nearest cashpoint, and of course 'Out of Service'

The nearest other one is a 76 mile round trip in the opposite direction. One of the downsides of living in the middle of nowhere.

I see the Hungarian National Lottery has been found to be yet another Fidesz cashpoint for its members. Fixed wins with funds disappearing just days before the elections. #fidesz

Back in the day I always said the scariest thing after a good night out was finding a decent amount in my wallet. That meant I’d been to the cashpoint and taken out an unknown amount…

I can't walk past a lifeboats collection tin without also making a trip to the cashpoint. Those exceptionally brave volounteers have my total respect.

One bank did at one point, even well before apps- you could use telephone banking, tell them how much you needed, and they'd give you a code to type into the cashpoint in exchange for notes.

I'm amazed a business like that would actually have any cash on hand tbh, so i imagine Bill is going to the cashpoint?
