#catecholamines
Honored to be the next co-chair of the Gordon Research Conference on Catecholamines with amazing @bensaunders.bsky.social! This meeting is a vibrant space for cutting-edge science & community, deepening understanding of how catecholamines shape brain circuits and behavior. Excited for what’s ahead!

🧠✨ Exciting new research alert! ✨🧠

Did you know that catecholamines can reduce choice history biases in perceptual decision-making? 🧐🔍

Honored to be elected to serve as the next vice co-chair, along with the amazing @sciolinolab.bsky.social, for the Catecholamines Gordon Research Conference. I first came to this meeting in 2011 as a grad student and it was transformative for my career. Excited to help cultivate that for others.

When people get mad, their bodies secrete catecholamines. Catecholamines affect one’s cardiovascular system, metabolism, and internal organs… In short, I won’t get mad easily.

veronica: caeli - i am your conscience. you're addicted to drama because it's a spike in cortisol, adrenaline, and catecholamines. they're fed up. that's why you snore at night, because you're so worn out. you can't even stand it yourself.

After years of trying serotonin-targeting drugs and getting nothing but nasty high serotonin symptoms and side effects, I finally tried SNRIs and they worked a bit better, but nothing worked as well as ADHD meds that targeted only catecholamines

but that's all too expensive so I'm on none

Are you at @assc28.bsky.social #ASSC28? On Wednesday I will present a poster on the causal relationship between choice history biases and catecholamines (noradrenaline / dopamine). With @donnerlab.bsky.social et al.

If you're not used to thinking about your depression this way and you're wondering which you experience and have been through the gamut of medical care, consider: does your depression respond better to SSRIs/other serotonin drugs, or meds targeting catecholamines (norepinephrine drugs, stimulants)

The β1-adrenergic receptor links sympathetic nerves to T cell exhaustion - Nature
Stress-associated catecholamines promote CD8+ T cell exhaustion through the β1-adrenergic receptor, and blocking β-adrenergic signalling may help restore anti-tumour functions.

Customize targets
Limit catecholamines
Enhance flow
Adjust fluid balance
Resolve underlying conditions

Activation of SNS and HPA ➡️secretion of glucocorticoids & catecholamines
➡️ changes in hemostasis.

Acute psychosocial stress activates coagulation >>fibrinolysis

The net result is prothrombotic & contributes to the association of stress w/ acute coronary syndromes.

Exhausted CD8 T cells express the Beta-1 adrenergic receptor (ADRB1) and are found near sympathetic nerves. Activation with catecholamines leads to reduced TCR signalling and T cell function, while beta-blockade helps 🐭
