Longtime CBS21 meteorologist announces departure: ‘Tomorrow will be my last day’
A long-serving member of the CBS 21 news team is leaving the station. In a post on his Facebook page, Steve Knight, a 25-year veteran with the Harrisburg station, announced that “all good things must eventually come to an end, and tomorrow will be my last day at CBS 21.” “This coming January would have been my 25th anniversary at the station, but it’s not meant to be,” Knight wrote in his post. He went on to say he decided to leave “after being presented with a non-negotiable contract offer that I deemed to be unsignable.” “There are no hard feelings, this is the ‘television business’ and, as is often the case, the second word in that phrase (business) is far and away the most important one,” he wrote. “Not everyone can say that they get to walk away on their own terms, and for that I am grateful.” A native of Lancaster County, Knight graduated from Penn Manor High School and has lived in New Cumberland since 1996. After studying at Millersville University and Mississippi State University, he began working with CBS 21 in 2002, In his post, Knight said that he began working there “full of optimism and I leave tomorrow feeling the same way.” Nonprofit local news isn't free! It takes reporters, editors, and resources to do this work right. Your donation keeps that work alive. MAKE YOUR DONATION TODAY “While my time at the station may be done, I will always be a CBS 21 fan and will keep rooting for the continued success of all my current teammates,” he wrote. According to Knight’s post, his nearly 25 years at CBS 21 made him the “longest tenured on-air personality in the 73 year history of the station.” He went on to thank viewers and colleagues, with a particular thank-you to his “longtime weather partner Tom Russell.” “Tom and I both arrived in 2002, and between the two of us worked long and hard to bring a new era of credibility to the CBS 21 Weather and News brand,” Knight wrote. “Humbly, I leave today feeling that the mutual vision that the two of us always had has been accomplished.” Knight didn’t share concrete plans for his next career move, but wrote that he was “excited and optimistic about what the future may hold.” “I can say this; I grew up here and all I ever wanted to do was have the honor of broadcasting and serving in the Community that I love,” he wrote. “I never have, nor will I ever leave this area to pursue another broadcasting opportunity.” To read Knight’s full post, click here to visit his Facebook page. ©2026 Advance Local Media LLC. Here's the weird story of the reporter chasing him into the woods. I don't know that they ever did get a sitdown with Perry.

Perry really doesn't have time or interest in the people who didn't vote for him. He doesn't seem to consider them his constituents.

While it's raining outside with an Air Quality Index still near 200, I can't help but recognize how many different extremes we've experienced just in my backyard this July.

Here are some of those headlines across central Pennsylvania... drought to record heat to severe storms to wildfire smoke.
