Absolutely... a very delicate shade. Reminds of another Scabious relation, which I've grown, Cephalaria gigantea...1st seen in Chelsea Physic Garden, and was immediatedly smitten : ) It's VERY tall + can be a flopper, but I love its large primrose yellow blooms w/their signature Scabious intricacy.

One of my favourite things is when perennials I've grown from seeds grow into strong magnificent beautiful healthy plants...Phlomis russeliana and Cephalaria gigantea are two perfect examples in our garden, sown in the cold of March 2023

I love Cephalaria too. It was used in lots of places and is at its peak at the moment. Bees all over it and butterflies too.
House built 1871.
It's a nature reserve too
Such lovely, deep borders... looks very tranquil : ) Any idea how old this garden is? Lucky you to have so many historic (*and younger) gardens to encounter... Possibly Cephalaria on the right side? Such a pretty, under-used, gangly giant! 💚

Cephalaria gigantea, such a fabulous plant, the flower stalks are over 5ft (1.5m) tall (fence post for scale)

this is where i got the seeds. uprising has the best quality, the most germination, and are honestly my favorite seed company of all time. (i do not take these things lightly. my word is my bond, about seeds and plants)
Scabiosa, 'Giant Yellow'
(Cephalaria gigantea) Native to moist meadows and mountain pastures from the Caucasus to Siberia, this scabiosa relative is a botanical marvel. Towering plants (over 8’!) with long wiry stems and pale...

The bumblebees were playing a game of ‘how many of us can we fit on one cephalaria flower head’ today 😆 Even the hoverflies were starting to get involved. 😊

I’ve been away and it has helped me discover that pottering has become an important part of my life. I miss deadheading while the kettle boils; pulling up weeds at lunchtime; and wandering around the garden at 6 a.m., to see what’s changed, what needs a little help, what’s new #ukgardening 🌱
