I'm also a TikZ lover (from the LaTeX world) and it's so cool to see something that's not only TikZ-inspired, but also clearly quite a lot easier to use - especially as typst has metaprogramming stuff (like functions and loops) which are easy to define and use

Fun little evening project: a python module that turns ordinary-ish language descriptions of dags (left) into cetz code that typst compiles (right). Next up, tikz templates.

I use Inkscape, or Tikz/cetz if you want to do it programmatically. Gimp is great for image editing, but vector software is much better for (most) figures.

That's right. Originally, typest can use Rust, so it is relatively easy to produce programming results. Also, I often use Cetz when drawing diagrams.

yep! either plain cetz (as for the contours above) or fletcher (for the diagrams) -- and i feel pretty much the same.
figures are probably the only area where i keep contemplating whether i should do the drawing in LaTeX/TikZ and just import the pdf -- so far I've resisted though. 🧐
