We caught up with this season's, opening week, Championship 2 fixture between Carrickfergus and Academy at Tom Simms Memorial Park on a damp Saturday afternoon. The constant drizzle and sometimes heavy rain together with a gusting wind ensured a scrappy start to the opening league fixture. Carrick's Ryan McGonigle powers to the line for the opening score. Carrick got their act together the quickest and David Carse came close to opening the scoring only to knock on as he trued to gather a loose ball.

This top of the table clash at Belmont had a winner takes all vibe as CIYMS battled their main rivals Carrick for pole position in Championship 2 on Tuesday evening. CI had the better start, rush defence and thumping tackles, especially from CI centre Jason Gilliland, rattled Carrick in possession and CI took full advantage getting ahead after 12 mins with a penalty sent between the sticks by Jack Bonnar.

We caught up with the Championship 2 match between Academy and CIYMS at Roughfort on Saturday afternoon. This was an entertaining game between two sides who know each other well. Despite CI looking for a win to stay top of Championship 2 and Academy looking for the win to avoid slipping into the relegation dogfight there was not a lot between the two teams on the day.

I caught up with the Championship 2 league match between Carrick and Academy at a cold and windy Tom Simms Park on Saturday afternoon. I thought I'd give it a go sitting at the end the wind was blowing towards to catch the bulk of the action but as it turned out both teams defended well against the elements and most of the action was at the top end of the pitch.

I caught up with the Second half of the Championship 2 match between CIYMS and Ards while I was at Belmont Park on Saturday. When I joined the match at half time CI were leading 21 - 5. CI tries came from Mark Scott, Paddy Beverland and Jason Gilliland, all converted by Jack Bonner. Ards replied with a try from Danny Patton.
