Sometimes I get sad that he and Chandragupta Maurya are offset by a few years. Could've been one of the craziest matchups in league history

#Boardwargaming grail game acquired; volume 13 of @gmtgames.bsky.social ‘s Great Battles of History series, “Chandragupta”, covering the rise of India’s greatest empire before the Mughals, the Mauryan Empire, contemporary with the Diadochi and the rise of Rome.

I have been assured that bloody brutality was uniquely white and European. Gonna take a big swig of water and read about this chandragupta fellow

Would Isaac Newton make it in the 21st century university?
Would Confucius know how to operate a soft serve machine?
Would Chandragupta Maurya be forklift certified?
Would Omar Khayyam drive a Prius?

THE LATE, GREAT, CHANDRAGUPTA MAURYA

Chandragupta supposedly encountered his army in the Punjab as a young man, and may have served in it briefly, though I think the sources here are speculative.

So the Mauryas were one of the earliest subcontinent spanning empires in Indian history, founded by the famed Chandragupta and massively expanded by his grandson Ashoka the Great. The empire was based in Pataliputra, in what is now Bihar, on the eastern side of the country

Okay but why did civ 6 have to make Gilgamesh and Chandragupta look like that though. I don't even like playing for conquest but like 👀

Finally got ahold of one of my grail #boardwargames - "Chandragupta" by @gmtgames.bsky.social , covering the chief battles of the Mauryan Empire in Alexandrine-era* India - to complete my set of GMT's #GBoH (Great Battles of History) series, via an eBay auction at a rational price point.

So.. these gold Gupta coins depict Chandragupta I & his queen Kumaradevī (319–335 CE).

She's on-display, paraded around the empire..

Though the Guptas certainly strengthened Brahmins & casteist patriarchy, it does not appear that they idealised female seclusion & confinement.
