Kawara Soba

Very unique soba noodle dish from Yamaguchi prefecture in Japan. Traditionally it is cooked on a roof tile called kawara. A hot plate is used at home recently instead of it.

🍽️ Cold soba with Nisshin Kyoto Itokyuemon Uji chasoba

First time trying soba noodles mixed with green tea powder; I can taste a faint matcha flavor!
Only cooked one serving (50g) this time, so it is more like a snack than a true meal.

Add "former residence" to that. My favorite izakaya is/was also the owner's house. Chio's in Fussa. I will always remember that place - it had the best chasoba and tempura. My uncle would always have a little bit too much to drink with the salarymen to use the scooter, then we'd walk back home.
